Taylor is a born and raised New Englander with a love of all things coastal,
especially lobster rolls and Rhode Island beaches. She’s a die-hard promoter
of all the East Coast has to offer, from fall festivities in leaf-peeping season,
Hallmark-worthy holiday traditions , summer afternoons at Fenway and
finding hidden gems in small towns.
In her free time, she enjoys reading novels with tons of twists and turns,
seeing (and singing along to) musicals, cuddling with her fluffy orange cat,
Ginny, binging reality TV, and traveling the globe — backpack and hostel style.
Experience
I am an investigative reporter and long-form narrative writer specializing in compelling and impactful storytelling. As a true-crime writer, I thrive when deep diving into complex investigations, whether it be a decades-old cold case with a sparse case file or a more modern crime with troves of digital evidence.
While reporting and writing for the world's top true-crime podcasts Crime Junkie and The Deck, I dug into crimes against marginalized victims whose stories have often gone untold. I traveled the country visiting crime scenes and talking to detectives and victims’ loved ones, pouring over every detail of an investigation. I tackled mountains of evidence, dozens of interviews and boxes of records to understand the complexities and context of each case.
Throughout my career, there has been a common thread woven through my writing: a desire to break down layered issues in a format that is easy to follow, finding the most emotional moments and personal vignettes that bring the story to life, and crafting a structure that keeps the audience's attention from start to finish. I thrive when creating multimedia content to reach these goals, producing powerful visuals that illustrate the story, capturing strong sound bites to weave into a script and working with production teams to create content for multiple mediums, including eye-catching and engaging social posts.
Before pivoting to podcasting, I spent a decade as a newspaper reporter writing about everything from overnight crime in Chicago to senior citizen beauty pageants in small-town New England. I covered criminal trials, Congress, COVID-19, local businesses, the opioid crisis and police accountability efforts.
I led coverage of the 10-year remembrance of the Sandy Hook school shooting, profiling students who survived the massacre and families who lost children as they advocated for gun violence prevention.
As an intern at the Washington Post, I contributed to the Pulitzer Prize winning “Fatal Force” database, tracking police involved shootings and investigating fatal shootings by police involving toy guns. I reported on Donald Trump’s first election from the polls and the White House on election night and documented rallies across D.C. on Inauguration Day.
